Dr. Andrea Jordheim, DC CFMP, is a Certified Gluten Practitioner gluten sensitivity, Grand Junction, CO.with extensive knowledge and clinical experience in the field of gluten-related disorders including the causes of non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) and celiac disease (CD), allowing her to effectively treat and educate her patients about these conditions.
Dr. Andrea sees many patients who have been tested by other healthcare professionals but were told they didn’t have an issue with gluten.
The world of gluten-related disorders is immense and ever expanding, and Dr. Andrea stays current with the latest developments. Many health professionals do not have the time or the training to discover or determine if their patients have a gluten-related disorder.
For patients who receive a diagnosis (often that of CD) it is very common for these patients to also have other food sensitivities that can lead to cross-reactivity with gluten antibodies in their system. These additional sensitivities can prolong and aggravate the widespread systemic damage to various organs of the digestive system and lead to ongoing health issues, autoimmune diseases (Crohn’s disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, alopecia, rheumatoid arthritis), and even irreversible organ/cellular damage.
“We made it through this time with no steroids, no surgery, and using vitamins, all natural! Great news also… Hunter has gained 17 lbs in 3 months while being treated by Dr Andrea Jordheim! He has a hard time gaining 1 lb in that time. So glad she is in our lives! Hunter is being tested for gluten and other wheat sensitivity. Milk came up as an issue recently. We are off milk and gluten now. What a savior Dr Andrea Jordheim has been so far! So excited for Hunter’s future!” -Michelle D., mom to Hunter, a 13 year old with a 10-year history of severe Crohn’s disease, written after her son’s recent gallbladder attack.
Dr. Andrea uses extensive patient history, physical examination, genetic testing, and lab testing of blood, stool, and saliva to help patients understand where they fall on the spectrum of gluten-related disorders. A patient’s immune system can react to gluten/wheat in various ways and demonstrate one or more of the following manifestations of a gluten-related disorder:
Dr. Andrea works with adults and children who have suffered too long and need answers for one of the most common occurring lifelong genetically determined diseases. She guides patients, empowering them to make a smooth transition into living a gluten-free lifestyle. She also works with parents whose children need to be gluten-free to create a gluten-free kitchen, inform and educate children’s teachers and school administrators of their condition, and empowers kids to transition effectively to stay gluten-free, especially when temped by the unsafe food they are surrounded by in school and with friends.
